Three winners for Cranbourne

CRANBOURNE trainers Michael Kent, Robbie Griffiths and Matthew Hyland prepared winners at last week’s home track ladies day meeting with Kent’s three-year-old maiden runner Miss Impact providing one of the day’s highlights in the second event.
Caulfield Cup-winning jockey Vlad Duric had an easy time of it as the rising equine star bolted clear to down a good-quality field and put a space between his opposition in the 1000-metre dash last Thursday.
Griffiths followed up by saddling Fordee in the next race and watching experienced Cranbourne hoop Peter Mertens steer the horse to the post first in the 2025m maiden race, then Hyland made it a good end to the afternoon when his $18 outsider Tully Layo, ridden by his younger brother Sam, saluted in the final event.
Mark Zahra and Nash Rawiller completed riding doubles on the day and officials were happy with the meeting, despite steady rain forcing patrons to remain inside or undercover for most of the afternoon.
Cranbourne Turf Club’s next meeting will be the annual Trade Union Raceday on Sunday 11 November.
