Recognition for citizens

SOME nominations close tomorrow (Friday) for the annual Citizen of the Year Awards for outstanding achievers who have made a difference in Casey.
Casey mayor Colin Butler said that the awards were an opportunity to acknowledge members of the community who had contributed their time and talents to benefit others.
The awards provided “a great opportunity for the wider community and council to celebrate those who make a difference to our community”, Councillor Butler said.
“I encourage residents to nominate someone who has contributed to our community and give them a chance to be officially recognised and thanked for their efforts.”
In recognition for those contributions the council will acknowledge nominees at an Australia Day dinner and the Casey Citizens Awards Ceremony on Australia Day, 26 January 2008.
Nominations for individual awards will close on 9 November 2007 and for the Casey Community Event of the Year on 4 January 2008.
