Narre bats fight it out

NARRE Warren’s Turf Three team batsmen fought hard against a strong Buckley Ridges attack, finishing the day on 9/173 off its 80 overs.
Played at Sweeney Reserve, Buckley Ridges won the toss and sent Narre Warren into bat on a bowler-friendly wicket.
Jarred Leworthy was the best of the bats with 34. Mark Jensen-Schmidt 24 and Brendan Jarman 22 giving good support while most of the others got good starts, but didn’t go on.

Playing Lynbrook at Sweeney, Narre Warren won the toss and decided to bowl.
Wickets fell at a constant rate before the tea break to have it 4/121 after 42 overs.
Lynbrook went for it after the tea break and put on another 119 to end up 9/240 at close at play.
Best bowler for Narre Warren was Matthew Gordon with 5/66 off 27.
Narre sees this as a gettable score to chase down this week.

Narre Warren travelled to Ross Reserve to take on Parkfield that won the toss and elected to bat.
Early wickets to Nick Howard (1/70) and two to Gareth Rees, followed by a direct-hit run-out to Ben Carter saw Parkfield at 4/95.
A partnership of 106 between A. Hardie (77) and J. McLelland (102 not out) put Parkfield in the box seat, ending the day on 7/300 at the close of play.
Best bowling for Narre Warren was Rees (4/86) from 28 overs.

Playing Parkfield at Sweeney, Vic Bradshaw and Paul Gould opened, creating a great partnership of 65 before the first wicket fell with Gould on 39.
Everyone batted well putting together strong partnerships.
Best was Craig Mentiplay with a brilliant 52, Glen Landry made a punishing 37 and Bradshaw was excellent with 34.
Narre Warren was all out for 246.
Having to bowl for 15 overs, Brett Hay and junior Shannon Marrell opened and were sensational taking seven wickets between them, Marrell 4/11 including three in the one over. Hay 3/15 and Parkfield were 8/29 at close of play.

Winning the toss and electing to bat, Narre Warren was able to get on top of Hampton Park quickly.
Although the outfield was slow, some excellent running between wickets saw the score continue to build.
Both opening batsmen Lashlan Jayasuriya and James Giertz retired on 50 each.
This excellent opening stand was built upon by Dylan Quirk (42 not-out) and Nathan King (20 not-out) with the team finishing on 1/197.

Playing Lyndale, Narre Warren won the toss and elected to bat and the openers got the team off to a good start reaching 1/37 after 10 overs.
After losing a quick wicket this brought together Jordan Toole and captain John Mentiplay who compiled another great partnership.
Wickets started to fall steadily and Narre Warren was all out for 120 in the 39th over.
Best of the bats this week were Toole 29 and Mentiplay 21.
Having six overs to bowl, Narre Warren performed brilliantly in the field and have Lyndale reeling at 5/17 with superb bowling by Kris Merz 3/16 off three overs and Travis Walker 2/7 off three overs and three great catches by Jake Moroney.

Batting first, Narre Warren got off to a bad start against Endeavour Hills and had to battle all day to bat the 40 overs and was all out for 118.

After 40 overs the boys did brilliantly to end up with 191 after the 40 overs.
Best of the bats this week was Tom Dovaston 26 not out, Mitchell Healy 25 not out, Travis Johnston 27 not out and Tom Spreckley 14 not out.

Narre Joeys Black playing Cranbourne, lost the toss and was sent in to bat and after 24 overs had made 94 runs.
Best of the bats were Nathan De Silva 15, Callum Sigarus seven and Joshua West seven.
Cranbourne batted and after its 24 overs could only manage 50 with some great tight bowling from Narre Warren.
Best of the bowlers were Travis Healy 0/2 from two overs, Caleb Johnston 1/2 off one over and Sachin Akarawita filling in from the under 11 Grey team 1/2 off two overs.
Matthew Christou took a great outfield catch.
