Lily shoots for the stars

By LACHLAN MOORHEAD

IT’S not every day an 11-year-old makes a movie.
But Lily Lunder isn’t your typical 11-year-old.
The young film-maker, from Narre Warren, has been selected as a finalist in the Australian Centre for the Moving Image’s (ACMI) ‘Screen It’ Awards, to be held next month.
Lily’s short film ‘Game Changer’, which explores the prevalence of online gaming among children, was the only individual entry to be selected as a finalist in the ‘Primary Live Action’ category.
All other finalists were school entries.
“Game Changer is about a young boy addicted to gaming. He travels back in time and learns all the different ways kids used to play,” Lily said.
“When he comes back home, he realises that games should only be one part of his life.”
Lily said she was very excited about the gala red carpet event, which will take place on Friday 13 November at ACMI in Melbourne.
“I can’t believe I get to see my film up shown up on the big screen,” she said.
“I worked really hard on it, from the script writing all the way through to the final editing, so I’m really excited to be in the final!”
