Casey Council’s year in review

CASEY Council has released its 2014/15 Annual Report.
The report shows that last financial year council recorded 5.4 million garbage collections, had 3.9 million visits to key sport and leisure facilities, and 4152 residents received home and community care services last financial year.
“The extent of the council’s activities range from maintaining 1800 hectares of open space, to providing more than 260 community grants and sponsorships to community groups and organisations, to opening the $4.5 million Lynbrook Community Centre,” mayor Sam Aziz said.
“The council is committed to transparent reporting and accountability to the community, so I encourage residents to view our latest Annual Report.
“In addition to highlighting the many achievements in 2014/15, the independently audited standard, financial and performance statements are also included.”
The council is externally audited by the Victorian Auditor-General Office, with representatives attending the Audit and Ethics Committee meetings and auditing financial statements.
The Victorian Government has also developed the ‘Know Your Council’ website.
“When it launches it will enable residents to compare their council’s performance and capacity with other councils across a number of performance indicators,” Cr Aziz said.
“The council welcomes this heightened level of transparency.”
