POLICE are seeking assistance from the public after a string of thefts in Spring Square, Hallam.
A number of shops were broken into and cash was stolen between 5pm on 11 November and 9am on 13 November.
Bolts were removed from the back door of store Maligaya and $30 stolen from the cash register.
Soprano’s Pizza reported that its front door was forced open and $300 stolen from its cash register.
Fish and Chips on the Run reported its front door had been forced open and the $350 float stolen. The locks on fridge and freezer doors were cut and frozen fish fillets and cans of soft drink were stolen.
Senior Sergeant Steve Gaskin said shopkeepers should try to keep to a minimum the amount of cash in shops when closed.
“It would be best if no cash was kept on any premises overnight, but we understand that some shopkeepers have no choice,” Senior Sergeant Gaskins said.
