Park facility opens with fun night

By LACHLAN MOORHEAD

THE City of Casey is inviting residents to a night of entertainment at the official opening of the new lakeside facility at Wilson Botanic Park in Berwick.
Council has organised a free night of entertainment at the new space this Friday 5 February, named Wilson Botanic Park Lakeside, and located at the southern end of the park’s large Anniversary Lake.
The event will run from 6.30pm to 9pm and will feature a number of activities including giant chess, checkers and tai chi demonstrations, as well as musical entertainment from a string quartet, a violinist and a vocalist.
Residents are also invited to stay for the Sunset Cinema, which is held at the park every Friday night during the warmer months.
‘Mission Impossible Rogue Nation’ will be screened from 9pm on Friday.
“This space has been specifically designed to provide a flexible, multi-use, contemporary space that can cater for wedding ceremonies, entertainment, education sessions, fitness classes and picnics by the lake’s edge, to complement the many other great areas around the park,” Mayor Sam Aziz said.
“With terracing, a formal promenading staircase, elevated stage with balustrade, central lawn area and atmospheric mood lighting, Lakeside is now the perfect space to hold events for memorable occasions or to simply relax with a friend or a book.”
For more information visit www.casey.vic.gov.au/wbpb, or call the park on 9707 5818.
