Man faces court over Kitten fire

A BERWICK man has appeared in court over a fire at the Kittens strip club in Caulfield South.
According to news reports of the proceedings, Mark Ahern, 31, was charged with two counts of criminal damage by fire, one court of reckless conduct endangering life, handing stolen goods and possessing a prohibited weapon.
He appeared at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 18 February.
He did not apply for bail and was remanded in custody until 9 June.
Mr Ahern was arrested on Wednesday with a female companion at a house in Mason Way.
The court was told a knuckle duster was found during a search of the house.
The woman was released by detectives later the same day with a diversion notice for drug offences.
