Election boundary changes

THE Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) is recommending several boundary changes for three Casey council wards.
In its subdivision review released on Wednesday 30 March, the VEC recommended boundary adjustments be implemented in the Balla Balla, Edrington and Mayfield wards to ensure equal representation for voters.
Adjustments are recommended so that the number of voters represented by each councillor is within 10 per cent of the municipality average.
“These recommended adjustments will help uphold the principle of ‘one vote, one value’ for the upcoming local council elections,” Electoral Commissioner Warwick Gately said.
The final report has been sent to the Local Government Minister Natalie Hutchins and, if accepted, the new ward boundaries will take effect at the local council elections in October.
The Casey council subdivision review final report is available at www.vec.vic.gov.au, or by calling 131 832.
