THE Berwick Obedience Dog Club is one of 21 community animal welfare groups that will share in new State Government funding.
The Andrews Government will provide $350,000 worth of Animal Welfare Fund Grants across the state, in an effort to make life better for neglected and abused animals.
“It’s such a pleasure to reward the work of Berwick Obedience Dog Club, a local organisation who have dedicated themselves to teaching dog owners how to better understand, care for and train their pets,” Narre Warren North MP Luke Donnellan said.
“We take animal welfare seriously – that’s why we’re supporting these volunteer organisations that play such an important role in improving and protecting the welfare of our pet companions.
“The Andrews Labor Government is proud to lead the way in not only stamping out cruel barbaric practices such as puppy farms, but we are investing in strengthening animal welfare practices across the state.”
It’s understood the Berwick Obedience Dog Club will use the funding to install a subsoil drainage system at the Kalora Park off-lead dog park, which is often closed in winter due to the problem of water logging.
