THERE’S never a bad time to pick up a book.
That’s why Narre Warren South MP Judith Graley is urging children in Casey to get involved with the 2016 Premier’s Ready Challenge.
To meet the Victorian Premier’s Early Years Reading Challenge, children need to “experience” a minimum of 40 books with their family or early years educators between now and 9 September 2016.
Narre Warren South MP Judith Graley said the reading challenge can be significantly beneficial for children under five.
“Reading to our children from a young age gives them a much needed head-start in life and at school,” Ms Graley said.
“We have seen that students who are read to from an early age and gain a love of reading, develop faster and do exceptionally well at school.
“They have improved communication skills, longer attention spans, a great understanding of the world around them and extraordinary imaginations.
“I encourage everyone to get out a good book, sit down with your family and together discover an amazing story.”
