Spotlight on core commitment

A NARRE Warren North apple grower has temporarily stepped off the farm to spend some time in front of the camera.
While Rowan Little’s day job is spent as an apple grower at Montague Orchards on Horswood Road, he was recently filmed for a product segment expected to appear on Channel 7’s My Kitchen Rules.
Montague Orchards has been growing apples at the site since the 1950s and the business has been supplying fruit to Coles for more than a decade.
Mr Little told Star News his time in front of the camera was a great opportunity for Montague Orchards.
“We’re pretty excited,” he said.
“Any time you get the opportunity to talk about your product is a good day.”
Mr Little is one of eight Coles suppliers to appear in product segments on the top-rating TV program.
During the product segment Mr Little tells a couple of the MKR contestants that the best way to keep apples fresh is to store then in the crisper.
Coles fresh produce general manager Brad Gorman said the company had thrown its support behind Rowan and the segment.
“Coles source products directly from hundreds of food producers across Victoria,” he said.
“Highlighting their produce to a national audience through My Kitchen Rules is another way we can celebrate local suppliers as well as the great food grown on family farms.
“We were delighted to support Rowan’s product segments on behalf of Coles in My Kitchen Rules and, in doing so, shine the national spotlight on such an innovative Victorian business that produces high-quality apples.
“Victorian producers such as Rowan and his team are vital in ensuring Australians have excellent fresh local food to buy at Coles.”
