CASEY Scorpions Football Club hosted the Casey Gift professional running meet at its Cranbourne North home ground on Sunday, with Craig Brown taking out the feature event of the afternoon.
Brown, from Tullamarine, won the 120-metre sprint final and collected the $3000 winner’s cheque, while other notable victories went to Frankston runner Tony O’Shea in the 300m Handicap and Albert Park’s Lynn Gunning in the 400m women’s final.
O’Shea is a well-known face in Casey Cardinia league football circles across the district with his winter weekends taken up as a senior boundary umpire with the Southern Umpires Association.
It was the second Casey Gift meeting promoted by the Victorian Football League club and held at Casey Fields, and officials were pleased with the event.
