Road fix-up in the works

VicRoads maintenance projects team leader Upali Ileperuma and Luke Donnellan at the uneven road.

A DANGEROUSLY uneven road section in Narre Warren has been slated for $2.5 million in repairs starting this year.
Roads Minister and Narre Warren North MP Luke Donnellan said investigations into the cause of a deteriorated 150-metre southbound section of Cranbourne-Narre Warren Road, south of Norfolk Drive, would begin immediately.
“We’re getting on with fixing a busy road that locals use every day to move around the community,” Mr Donnellan said.
The section is expected to be dug up and rebuilt later in the year.
In the meantime, the road’s speed limit was reduced from 80 km/h to 60 km/h due to its uneven surface and safety concerns.
The 80km/hour limit will be reinstated once the project is completed.
Casey council had recently written to VicRoads urging it to repair the road’s potholes.
Mayor Sam Aziz said the road was a safety hazard that caused motorists to lose control of their cars.
