CASEY Council has moved to redress an inequality in facilities provided for the Berwick City, Endeavour United and Doveton soccer clubs that play in the same level with Football Federation Victoria.
Four Oaks Ward councillor Rob Wilson said one of the clubs had an advantage because it had superior facilities.
Casey arts and leisure manager Robyn Bowen said in a report to the Tuesday 18 December council meeting that Berwick City Soccer Club had four senior and 34 junior teams and used the Jack Thomas Reserve at Narre Warren North.
“Endeavour United has four senior and nine junior teams, and is based at Reema Reserve.
“Doveton Soccer Club at Waratah Reserve has four senior, seven junior teams, and disability soccer program.”
Ms Bowen said there was need for a full-sized second playing field on Reema Reserve and two further change rooms.
She said the council had applied to the Sport and Recreation Victoria’s Community Facilities Fund for a grant to extend the Reema Reserve playing field.
“We expect a decision on the grant by April,” she said.
