THERE was a jingle bell rock of a different kind at Eumemmerring Primary School recently as students built and programmed robots to dance to festive tunes.
Grade 5 and 6 students took part in the robot program as part of the school’s innovative science curriculum. The robots were built from scratch with a special kit and then decked out in Christmas decorations.
Science coordinator Melinda Browne said the program offered children a range of learning opportunities. “It is a great program because it is very hands on and encourages problem solving, persistence, team work and cooperation,” Ms Browne said.
She said Eumemmerring Primary is hoping to help other local schools take part in the robot program next year.
