BERWICK Salvation Army is hosting a free Picnic in the Park to celebrate Australia Day.
The event will be held the day after Australia Day, on Sunday 27 January at the Timbarra Park Reserve on Jerilderie Drive, Berwick, from 11.30am to 2pm.
Salvation Army captain Karinna Exon said it is the first time the Salvation Army has hosted an event commemorating Australia Day.
“We want the Casey community to come and hang out with us, it’s Australia Day and what is more Australian than a barbecue,” Ms Exon said.
The events of the day will include activities such as sack races, egg and spoon races, face painting and a free barbecue lunch.
According to Ms Exon the response to the upcoming event has been well received.
“The locals tend to respond rather positively to us, so we are hoping this event will be a success,” Ms Exon said.
