Federation steps into Monash

MONASH University has confirmed that Federation University Australia will take over its Berwick campus from next year.
Vice-chancellor Margaret Gardner sent a message to staff and students yesterday saying approval for the proposed arrangement with Federation University was being sought from both the federal and state governments.
“If the arrangement is approved, Federation University plans to offer a number of courses at Berwick in 2017 and to operate fully at the campus from 2018,“ Ms Gardner said in her statement.
“Monash will continue to consult with our staff and students at Berwick regarding the transition of Monash education programs, students and staff to our other campuses.“
Ms Gardner said the university believed that “another university offering a different range of courses with different entry requirements in Melbourne’s south-east corridor provides more choice for the local community”.
Federation University Australia was created from a merger of the former University of Ballarat and the Gippsland Campus of Monash University.
