THREE months since a street robbery, police are still searching for the perpetrator and his female accomplice.
A man’s trusting and good nature was preyed on by a drive-by thief in a Narre Warren street robbery.
The 26-year-old male victim was lured to help the man, when the offender told him that he had lost his dog.
The victim was walking along Sweeney Drive in Narre Warren when the tattooed man driving a Toyota Corolla approached him from the driver’s seat. A female was sitting in the passenger seat.
Detective Senior Sergeant, Rob Clark, said the driver asked to make a call from the pedestrian’s phone, saying he had lost his dog.
“The victim asked for the number and dialled it on behalf of the driver, and when it didn’t work he dialled the same number again,” Det Clark said.
“The offender then grabbed the phone and had driven a short distance with the victim still holding on, and had then taken off.”
The street robbery occurred around 3.15am on Wednesday 27 April.
Police continue to appeal for witnesses. Anyone with information can anonymously contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
