Showerhead swap is a real saver

CASEY residents are doing their bit to help save water with more than 2700 showerheads swapped over for a more environmentally friendly model.
The City of Casey, in partnership with South East Water, is still offering locals the chance to save money and water by offering free water-efficient showerheads.
Local charities are also benefiting from the exchange program with South East Water giving the City of Casey $3 for every showerhead exchanged. This money is then distributed to local charities.
Casey mayor Janet Halsall said $654 had already been given to the RSPCA Peninsula animal shelter in Pearcedale.
“I know that this donation will greatly help the shelter,” Cr Halsall said.
“It’s extremely important that we all make an active effort to conserve water and reduce our water usage.
“Swapping our showerheads is a quick and simple way to make a difference, plus it’s free.
“To date, Casey residents have swapped over 2705 showerheads for more efficient water-saving alternatives, which is estimated to have saved around 54 megalitres of water – over 36 Olympic swimming pools,” Cr Halsall said.
“That’s a really fantastic effort, but I encourage more residents to take up this offer.”
Residents can participate in the showerhead exchange by bringing in their old showerheads and South East Water account to the Civic Centre, Magid Drive, Narre Warren.
For more information phone South East Water on 131 694 or visit www.southeastwater.com.au.
