White sees red over flag theft

A NARRE Warren South woman’s Australia Day celebration was marred by the theft of her Australian flag.
Elaine White, 72, was left feeling angry and upset on the nation’s most important day after thieves stole the Australian Flag hanging proudly outside their Cypress Hill Drive home sometime between Friday night and Saturday afternoon.
Mrs White said it was the first time in five years of displaying the flag for Australia Day that it had been stolen.
“I am so furious about it – in fact I’m still furious,” she said.
“It’s just a reflection on some of the morons who are around here. They think that anything around can just be stolen.”
Mrs White said two strings held up the full-sized flag.
The unpatriotic thieves also trampled through Mrs White’s garden to reach the flag before snatching it and spoiling a relaxing day of listening to the Australia versus India Test Cricket match on the radio.
“Fancy stealing someone’s Australian flag on Australia Day,” she said.
“That was the absolute pits.”
But Mrs White, a resolute Aussie patriot, says she will ‘fight’ for her right to display her pride for her country.
“I’m not going to give up, I’ll put up another one,” she said.
“But this time I’ll put it somewhere where it’s harder to take.”
