BERWICK couple Shelley Davie and Josh Hughes are set to bare all in the name of love tomorrow morning (Friday).
The 26-year-olds, who met three-and-a-half years ago in the taxi rank at defunct Narre Warren nightclub Brass Monkey, won radio station Fox FM’s nude wedding competition last Friday morning.
As well as receiving a $10,000 engagement ring, the lovebirds, who have a nine-and-a-half-month-old son called Lachlan, will have their entire wedding paid for.
A free Fijian honeymoon also awaits them.
There is just one catch – they have to tie the knot in the buff.
“We had been thinking about it (getting married), but financially, unfortunately, we wouldn’t have been able to,” Ms Davie said.
“As soon as I heard about the competition, I rang Josh and said, ‘this is for us; can we enter?’.”
Despite having already made the final three, Ms Davie was still shocked when she and Mr Hughes were announced as the winners following the public vote.
“I couldn’t believe we actually won. I didn’t believe it would happen to us,” she said.
“I was overjoyed that we could finally get married and to know it’s paid for is even better.
“It means we’ll have more money for ourselves and our son.”
And Ms Davie has no reservations about appearing au naturel in front of up to 250 guests – only 80 of which will be family and friends.
“I’m not worried about the nudity at all; I’m more worried about the emotional side of things,” she said.
“It is a big day. I can’t believe I’m going to be walking down the aisle to marry the love of my life.”
Not surprisingly, tomorrow’s event at Como Historic House and Garden in South Yarra is not quite how she envisioned her perfect wedding day going.
“I’ve always wanted to have a wedding that was one to remember and that I’d never forget,” she said.
“But I pictured a very small wedding – an intimate wedding with family and friends – nothing over the top.”
