Council makes space for art

THE City of Casey is taking applications from artists who are interested in exhibiting their work for free in one of council’s art spaces in 2017.
City of Casey CEO Mike Tyler said this was a great opportunity for experienced and emerging artists to access a range of exhibition spaces and showcase their work to the community.
“Council offers four exceptional gallery spaces, at the City of Casey Civic Centre in Narre Warren and the Cranbourne, Doveton and Endeavour Hills libraries.
“Council welcomes applications from both individuals and groups from Melbourne’s south-eastern suburbs with a range of mediums accepted including painting, photography, sculpture, printmaking, ceramics, jewellery, drawing, textiles and digital art including film.
“Council values the arts and the annual Art Spaces Program is one way we are working to support and showcase our vibrant arts community.
“Council is proud to have opened three new exhibition spaces at our local libraries to add to our popular Civic Centre Art Space, giving our local artists access to more gallery spaces and our local residents more opportunities to enjoy and appreciate art.
“Each year the Art Spaces Program features a great line-up of exhibitions showcasing our talented local artists and council hopes next year will be no exception.
“I encourage all artists to take this opportunity and apply now to be part of the program in 2017.”
