MYUNA Farm will be the new home to a volunteer staffed fresh produce market starting on Thursday 21 February.
City of Casey mayor Janet Halsall said the Myuna Market was a joint initiative of the Casey and Cardinia Sprouting New Ideas Project and Doveton Eumemmerring Neighbourhood Renewal.
“The Myuna Market is a wonderful opportunity for residents in the Doveton and Eumemmerring area to purchase affordable fresh fruit and vegetables, sourced through a supplier at the Dandenong Market,” Cr Halsall said.
She said the market was a wonderful addition to existing local markets, the Casey Farmers Market and the Pearcedale Farmers Market.
“They all aim to bring fresh produce to the people of Casey,” she said.
Cr Halsall said the community will get the opportunity to learn about fresh food.
“The customers will be told about tips and tricks on storing and using the fresh produce,” she said.
The Myuna Market will run every Thursday from 4pm to 6pm at Myuna Farm, 182 Kidds Road, Doveton.
Market organisers are seeking volunteers to staff the market.
All people interested can contact Sara McAlistar, Sprouting New Ideas Project officer at the City of Casey on 9705 5200.
