Laying down the law of the land

THE human face of policing turned up at Monash University’s Berwick campus on Tuesday for the annual international students’ orientation.
Multicultural officers, senior constables James Waterson, Andrew Garrett and Joey Herrech, visited the campus to explain to the students how to stay out of trouble.
The annual presentation prepares the students for the three years they will spend in Australia studying.
The police explained laws, licensing, regulations and aspects of safety relevant to the students, most of whom were from South East Asia, China, and India.
They will complete their degrees at the Berwick campus before returning home to take up their chosen careers.
The Berwick multicultural police presentation has been occurring for five years.
It began as a pilot project at Berwick and is now also delivered at the Caulfield, Clayton, and Gippsland campuses.
