Activity centre whets appetites

A NUMBER of Australia’s leading developers were among the companies to lodge expressions of interest in developing a major new Casey Activity Centre in Narre Warren by the deadline on Wednesday, 16 November.
Casey chief executive officer, Mike Tyler, said they would now work with their consultants, including a probity auditor, to review submissions against an agreed evaluation criteria.
“By March 2006 we expect to be able to announce a short list to be invited to respond to a request for tender,” he said.
Casey Council envisages the Casey Activity Centre will include:
* A new retail precinct
* A leading edge arts facility
* A new community library
* Council workspace
* Car parking and public open space
The activity centre is expected to provide significant employment and business opportunities during construction and once completed.
Community input will also be a vital aspect in developing the Casey Activity Centre and developers will need to demonstrate their capacity to reflect this as part of the project.
