BERWICK may soon be under Scottish control.
Local residents can rest easy, though – this Berwick is on the other side of the world.
United Kingdom media outlets reported this week that residents of Berwick Upon Tweed, City of Casey’s sister city, have unofficially voted to move away from England and join Scotland.
Coincidently, Berwick Upon Tweed mayor Lance Robson visited the City of Casey this week.
The Daily Mail said more than 60 per cent of those polled in Berwick backed a proposal to return to Scotland.
Berwick Upon Tweed has changed hands between the two countries at least 13 times, but has been under English control for the past 500 years, the Daily Mail said.
Casey manager of community development Janette Green said she did not believe Casey’s sister city relationship would be affected in any way.
