By Victoria Stone-Meadows

Fountain Gate Primary School in Narre Warren is one of 18 schools to receive funding from the State Government to support students with disabilities and special needs.
The school will receive funding form the government’s Inclusive Schools Fund to construct an outdoor sensory learning area that will allow differently abled students to get the most from their education.
Fountain Gate Primary School Principal Jennifer Duggan said the outdoor learning space would allow students in learn in a way that worked for them.
“The outdoor area will incorporate water, sand, a stage, outdoor gardening spaces, science and tech activities, and all the outdoor stuff that is too big or messy for inside,” she said.
“Students will be able to work inside and outside in a self-directed way.”
Ms Duggan said the new learning area would be great for the school overall as well as the special needs students.
“We are really excited about it and are looking forward to seeing it up and operating by end of the year.”
