Chip in and give pets a new identity

By Kelly Yates
FAMILIES can bring their dogs and cats along to Casey’s Microchipping Day on Saturday 29 March from 9am to 2pm at the Civic Centre car park.
Microchipping is one of the most effective ways to reunite families with their pets should they become lost and Casey is offering a special deal for local families.
For $20 per animal, pets will be microchipped by a veterinarian.
Pet registration will also be available on the day.
The microchip contained a barcode that was linked to the pet owner’s contact details and confidentially recorded on the Central Animal Records Database for the life of the pet, City of Casey’s manager for customer service Rob Colling said.
He said this meant an animal was permanently identified Australia-wide and could be safely returned to its owner, even if its collar or council ID tag had come off.
Victorian legislation requires that all newly registered animals be microchipped.
Casey’s Microchipping Day will have fun for the whole family including a jumping castle, sausage sizzle, dog competitions, pet wash and pet supplies stalls.
