NARRE Warren little athletes travelled to Bendigo to compete in the VLAA State Track and Field Championships on the weekend with three bringing home medals.
In extremely hot and dry conditions, the young athletes pushed themselves to the limit and the club was very proud of their achievements.
Many of them progressed through to the finals in their chosen events.
Sisters Amy and Sarah Burren both came first in their 1500-metre walks in the under-14s and under-11s respectively.
Amy also placed sixth in the final of the 1500-metre run.
Under-11 girl Maddison Fenton finished second in the discus with a personal best throw of 22.88 metres and also came fifth in the shot put and eighth in the javelin.
Under-10 girl Katelyn Cox made it through to both the 60-metre and 80-metre hurdles finals, placing seventh and eighth respectively.
Under-12 girl Ashley Albert placed fourth in the 1500-metre walk and 12th in the 1500-metre run.
Under 14 girl Stef Fenton, who broke the DLAC centre record for the javelin this season, improved on her distance of 26.36m with a massive throw of 27.37m which is a ‘Dandenong Centre Best Performance’.
She also placed fourth in the discus.
Under-nine boy Christopher Fenton placed sixth in the discus and under-10 boy Ethan Cornford ran ninth in the 800-metres and placed ninth in the discus.
A reminder to all club members that the annual general meeting and presentation is on Thursday, 20 March at the Narre Warren Little Athletics Centre clubrooms, Max Pawsey Reserve, Fountain Drive, Narre Warren at 5.30pm.
