The power of the pen is being used in a campaign to cure childhood cancers.
Two teams of Nossal High School students – the Graphomaniacs and Hakuna Matata – are joining a national ‘Write A Book In A Day’ fund-raising campaign.
On 22 August, the 17 students will be given a brief and then within 12 hours write, illustrate, bind and submit a story book of up to 5000 words.
Each book is then donated to be read in children’s hospital wards.
The event is organised by The Kids Cancer Project to raise funds for research into childhood cancer – the biggest killer of Australian children.
Since 2007, the Kids Cancer Project has invested $24 million into research.
Nossal library director Kamla Reddy said the project showcased students’ creative talents as well as required them to raise funds through events and sponsors.
