Wheel turns for scientist

An RMIT research scientist has taken over the chains of office as president of Rotary Club of Narre Warren.
Mohamad (Mamad) Hassan Amin was installed during a change-over dinner at Kilgerron Homestead restaurant in Narre Warren on 19 July.
Dr Amin said he planned to build on the busy previous year of events, which included a colour run, book fair, Ford car show, charity golf day and mental health forum.
The club also funded goalposts at a local school, supported the Dads Matter group and hosted an Italian exchange student.
The night was attended by Rotarians, business leaders, Casey mayor Sam Aziz, councillors Amanda Stapledon and Rex Flannery, and Rotary District Governor Donald Ripper.
Cr Aziz told the gathering about Casey’s plans for economic growth, jobs and global partnerships, including a run-down of the council’s delegation to Sichuan Province, China.
Since 1976, Rotary Club of Narre Warren has run a range of programs and activities for the community. It also offers leadership, networking, management and public speaking opportunities.
