Celts to kick up their heels

By Cam Lucadou-Wells

A world-class Celtic dance, magic and acrobatics spectacular is set to land at Bunjil Place in December.
Celtic Illusion, with a stellar cast of internationally-acclaimed dancers from Riverdance and Lord of the Dance, will be one of the first acts to be performed at the soon-to-open venue.
The show will feature some of the “fastest tap dancing in the world”, says director and lead dancer Anthony Street.
It also boasts an “incredible” soundtrack from a team of composers including Angela Little who co-composed for Baz Luhrman’s film Australia.
“Celtic Illusion has enjoyed great success, regularly performing to sell-out audiences since the show premiered in 2011.
“We have people contacting us all the time asking when Celtic Illusion will be coming to their town, and so we’re really looking forward to bringing the show to the City of Casey to perform in this brand new venue.”
Street, who is also the producer, choreographer and “creative mastermind”, says he secretly took Irish dancing lessons while growing up surrounded by footy, motorbikes, racing cars and hunting in Melbourne.
It’s a story akin to Billy Elliot, which has seen him rise to world heights as an Irish dancer.
The show is on 3 December, 8pm, at Bunjil Place theatre.
