CRANBOURNE will host at least one more Casey Council meeting despite attempts to stop the southern part of the municipality’s involvement with meetings.
The new Balla Balla Centre will host the next Cranbourne meeting, scheduled to take place on 16 September, after several problems were sighted with the previous Old Shire Offices location on Sladen Street.
Logistical issues regarding the set-up of each Cranbourne meeting as well an increase in costs were two reasons why council officers believed all meetings should be held in Narre Warren. It costs the council about $1500 to host each meeting in Cranbourne.
Councillor Kevin Bradford said it was imperative that at least one council meeting was made available to the residents of the south.
He said more people attended Cranbourne meetings than the regular location of Narre Warren.
“Why should people living in Tooradin and Warneet have to travel to Narre Warren each time for a meeting,” he said.
