Changes likely on council

RESIDENTS can expect a new-look Casey Council next week when the election results are tallied on Saturday.
Myuna Ward councillor Brian Oates, mayor Neil Lucas and Springfield Ward councillor Ben Clissold have not sought re-election.
However, four former Casey councillors are staging comebacks with Sam Afra running in Four Oaks Ward along with former mayor John Hastie.
Former mayoress Janet Halsall has also put her hand up for the River Gum Ward and controversial councillor Steve Beardon is contesting Mayfield Ward currently occupied by Cr Kevin Bradford.
There are five wards with two vacancies in each with 14 candidates running in Four Oaks, nine in Mayfield, eight in Springfield, five in River Gum and four in Edrington.
In Balla Balla Ward, where Cr Colin Butler is the elected representative, there is one vacancy and four candidates.
A special meeting will be held on Monday night to swear in the new council and to elect the new mayor.
Enrolled voters have also been reminded to make sure they get their votes in on time. Completed ballot papers must reach the returning officer by 6pm on Friday, 25 November.
Ballot papers can also be hand delivered to the Old Shire Offices, 160 Sladen Street, Cranbourne or to the Narre Warren Customer Service Centre, Magid Drive, Narre Warren by 6pm on Friday, 25 November.
