CASEY is running free driving seminars for older drivers.
The seminars will give older members of the community a chance to learn how to keep safe when driving as well information on alternative transport and mobility options which are available.
The seminars will be run by driving and occupational therapists on Tuesday 29 April from 10am to noon at the Council Chamber in Narre Warren, Friday 9 May from 10am to noon at the Doveton Neighbourhood Learning Centre and Friday 16 May from 10am to noon at the Balla Balla Centre in Cranbourne.
City of Casey manager for community safety Caroline Bell said the seminars were an excellent way for Casey’s older residents to keep up with current information and ensure their safety when out on the roads.
The topics that will be discussed in the seminars include what happens to people as they age in terms of vision, hearing, reflexes, comprehension and medical conditions, as well as issues such as complex driving situations, legal responsibilities, insurance, choosing a safe car, impacts of various medications, using alternative transport and avoiding social isolation.
The seminars are free but registration is essential.
Bookings can be made by contacting customer service on 9705 5200. Morning tea and a light lunch will be provided. No tests are involved.
The seminars are run in partnership with the City of Casey, RoadSafe, TAC and RACV.
