New car park spaces on track

COMMUTERS using Berwick Train Station will benefit from more than 200 new car parking spaces by 2012.
The funding announcement was made as part of last week’s State Budget.
Public Transport Minister Lynne Kosky said the funding recognised the need to continue improving the public transport system.
“The upgrade to car parking at Berwick Station recognises the needs of the growing Berwick community and will help to relieve parking pressure at the station,” Ms Kosky said. “The Brumby Government is taking action to deal with the massive patronage growth on the rail network and this has significantly increased demand for car parking at some stations.
“We will deliver at total of 209 new parking spaces at Berwick by 2012.”
Narre Warren South MP Judith Graley welcomed the extra parking at Berwick.
“This car park upgrade will allow more people to park their cars, board a train and travel into the city or across to other suburbs,” Ms Graley said.
“This is particularly good news for people who live further away from the station.”
