City of Casey councillor Wayne Smith, MIDDWAY Cobras team member Neil Sleeth, club secretary Don Cameron, City of Casey mayor Janet Halsall, team member Kelvin Swab and coach Gary Lambert are calling on the community to donate time or money to the club.City of Casey councillor Wayne Smith, MIDDWAY Cobras team member Neil Sleeth, club secretary Don Cameron, City of Casey mayor Janet Halsall, team member Kelvin Swab and coach Gary Lambert are calling on the community to donate time or money to the club.

LOCAL businesses and residents are being encouraged to help the MIDDWAY Cobras Football Club, which plays in the Berwick RecLink competition, by sponsoring the team to ensure it can see through another successful year.
Many of the players have a physical or mental disability, are recovering from substance abuse, are unemployed or living with mental health issues.
The RecLink competition provides a great opportunity for players who would not normally get the chance to play football to have a go.
The club has been running for eight years at its home base in Doveton’s Reid Robinson Recreation Reserve.
MIDDWAY Cobras secretary Don Cameron said the club was looking for more sponsors and more team helpers such as trainers and boundary and goal umpires.
The players pay no registration fees or financial contributions towards running the club; they only pay $2 each game towards washing the jumpers.
“The MIDDWAY Cobras couldn’t run without the support of the many dedicated volunteers who give up their time to help the club,” Mr Cameron said.
City of Casey mayor Janet Halsall urged the community to support the MIDDWAY Cobras by donating time or money to the club.
The MIDDWAY Cobras operate under Eastern Region’s Mental Health Association.
To make a tax-deductible donation, cheques can be posted to Dennise Rossetti at Eastern Regions Mental Health Association, 67 Robinson Street, Dandenong.
