Family services set to improve

THE Doveton and Eumemmerring community has received a State Government funding injection of $110,000 to develop a precinct in Casey aimed to improve family and children’s services.
City of Casey mayor Janet Halsall has welcomed the funding announcement, which will go towards refurbishing a council-owned building in Agonis Street, Doveton, and the Doveton North Family Resource Centre.
The funding will ensure that the facilities can be refurbished and expanded to meet the growing needs of children and families in the area.
The Agonis Street building will undergo minor modifications, such as the removal of parking in the back lane, reducing the size of the existing foyer to create storage space, the construction of a door in place of existing windows, which will enable groups to use the large playground at the front of the building, the removal of the window hoardings, fencing to fully and securely enclose the playground, and a general tidy and fit-out.
The redevelopment of the venue will enable members of the Doveton Early Years Partnership, Doveton Eumemmerring Neighbourhood Renewal, Neighbourhood Place and other interested service providers to co-locate and deliver services.
