THE MPNFL Sharks boasted five players from local Casey-Cardinia League clubs and all fared well in a campaign that went within an ace of winning the league’s way into the top VCFL division.
Michael Collins (Narre Warren)
Played as a hit-and-run midfield playmaker, Collins’ hands were predictably sure and his body work solid.
Looked at home at the VCFL’s elite level again.
Michael Henry (Doveton)
Henry played two of the three games as a rover-forward and used his speed and football smarts to advantage as part of the Sharks’ classy on-ball group.
Copped a decent knee to the head against WGLFL, but came back well against GFL on Sunday.
Brad Scalzo (Narre Warren)
Eased his way into the first game off the bench and quickly got the pace of the game, tackling ferociously and becoming one of the Sharks’ most creative running players.
Delivered the ball into attack with precision.
Ricky Clark (Narre Warren)
The word ‘jet’ comes to mind to describe the Sharks’ vice-captain.
Developed an intimate association with the ball, he had it so much over the two days and demonstrated his uncanny roving ability once again.
Certain to be invited to attend state training.
Lee Boyle (Narre Warren)
Played two of the three games, both as a tall defender and showed poise beyond his years against more seasoned opponents.
Took several telling contested marks.
