BERWICK Village Chamber of Commerce (BVCC) will host a four-day carnival this weekend.
Residents and visitors to Berwick can enjoy entertainment and rides such as dodgem cars, a 100-foot high slide, a ghost house and a rock climbing wall.
BVCC president Harry Hutchinson said entry into the carnival would be free, and it was a good opportunity to bring a large crowd into the town, which was typically quiet during the long weekend.
“We are also hoping all traders get behind the carnival and remain open and run various promotions with the extra people coming into the town during the weekend,” Mr Hutchinson said.
A receipt from any purchase made in the village during the weekend will entitle a person to one free ride at the carnival. Mr Hutchinson hoped local families would support the carnival, because a percentage of every dollar spent at the event would go towards the BVCC hosting free Christmas activities later in the year.
The family-friendly, alcohol-free event will run from Friday to Monday at the block of land opposite the Berwick Inn on Lyall Road, Berwick. It will run from 4pm to 9pm on Friday, 11am to 9pm on Saturday and Sunday, and 11am to 4pm on Monday.
