Campus closure to be assessed

THE bell will ring for the last time later this year at the Doveton Campus of Dandenong High School.
The Box Street campus, formerly known as Doveton Secondary College, will close in December as part of a merger with Dandenong High School and Cleeland Secondary College.
A community workshop will be held on 16 June to discuss the impact, both positive and negative, the closure will have on the wider community. Doveton Eumemmerring Neighbourhood Renewal (DENR) officials, together with the Cardinia Casey Community Health Service and the Department of Human Services, have already begun assessing the closure’s impact.
Key issues have been highlighted around transition, pride, participation and social justice.
Listening to the concerns of community members is essential, particularly in assessing the impact of losing a key community resource, officials say.
The workshop will be run by DENR on Thursday 16 June from 6.30pm to 8.30pm at the Doveton Neighbourhood Learning Centre, Oak Avenue, Doveton.
Officials say any feedback will be used to help minimise the negative impact of the closure on the community.
For more information contact DENR on 9791 4760.
