POLICE are on the hunt for a man who tried to abduct and sexually assault a 12-year-old girl at a Berwick school last Saturday.
The victim was left distressed but uninjured after the attack, which occurred at Berwick Lodge Primary School at 1.30pm.
Police said the girl was watching a nearby baseball game with her parents when she went to a playground at the school.
The girl told police that a man on a bike began talking to her. He then lured her away from the playground and into a small area between two rows of classrooms.
The attacker then grabbed his victim by the arm and pulled her into a classroom door alcove, police said.
The man then tried to sexually assault her.
Police said the girl managed to slip away from her attacker and scream.
The man has then become unsettled and left the area on his bike. He was last seen heading along Mansfield Road.
Police said the man is described as being between 15 and 18 years of age, Caucasian, with brown wavy hair, thin build and average height.
He was wearing black pants, a green t-shirt with black writing on the chest area, black sunglasses and a red coloured bike helmet at the time of the attack.
The man was riding a black and silver coloured mountain bike.
Anyone with any information about the crime is asked to contact Narre Warren Police on 9705 3111.
