Approximately 30 Narre Warren South P-12 College students worked consecutively on building a teardrop caravan before selling it for $8500.
Across classes such as Product Design and Building and Construction the students undertook various jobs that consisted of:
• Designing
• Modification
• Evaluation
• Manufacturing
• Construction
• Electronics
• Installations
• Construction folio and user manual
With some students working on the camper during lunchtimes and after school hours, this project was an engaging experience.
“The profit or money is not what we focus on, more importantly the simulation the students are exposed to, the skills and knowledge they have gained and the experiences that can contribute to their future careers through this process,” college VCAL leader Sharon Phillips said.
The previous model sold for $8000 and the proceeds went to a new electronic wheelchair for Year 12 student Ace.
This was made possible through the VCAL Pay it forward program that has been actively raising funds for disadvantage causes since the early 2000’s.
