Man robbed, bashed

POLICE are hunting for a group of men who robbed and assaulted a man in Hampton Park last week.
The man had parked his car on Regans Road when he was approached by a man, described by police as being of African descent, demanding cash and a cigarette. Police said the Hampton Park man refused to hand over the cash and the man attacked him, punching him and throwing a bottle at his head.
Police said the victim was then set upon by four more men, whom they also believe to be of African descent, who continued to kick and punch him.
One of the men then stole a $50 note from the victim’s wallet. The incident occurred between 6.45pm and 7.15pm on 3 July. Police suspected the man had a broken neck but later confirmed he suffered minor injuries. Anyone with information is urged to call Narre Warren Police on 9705 3111.
