A highlight of |Tuesday’s Pakenham race meeting was the dominant win of Cranbourne horse Zabonas in the 1770-metre Maiden Plate. Trained by Colin Alderson, Zabonas hit the lead before the 1000-metre mark and streeted the field to win by six lengths, untouched by the whip. Alderson said he had always had a high opinion of the gelding and said he would take it slowly with the horse but was confident it could be successful in much better races.
