Danger junction lights at last

THE long-awaited traffic lights at the notorious intersection of Olive Road and Princes Highway were officially turned on this week.
The Eumemmerring works started to take shape in April this year, with VicRoads spending $756,000 to install the traffic signals, after years of constant requests.
Former Eumemmerring resident Jessica Truong was lucky to survive a car collision at the intersection back in August 2005.
Ms Truong, who was 21 at the time, suffered a minor stroke and also needed plastic surgery to repair facial scars as a result of the collision.
Ms Truong spoke to the News in April this year and said she was relieved that changes were being made at the intersection.
“I know a lot of people that avoid the intersection,” she said.
VicRoads regional director Steve Brown said during the period from July 2001 until December 2007, there were 13 casualty crashes at the intersection, including one fatality.
