BUBBLY Sophie Morris will have eight reasons to smile tomorrow (Friday).
The Narre Warren South youngster will mark her eighth birthday on the 8-8-08.
And Sophie knows all too well her celebrations will coincide with one of the biggest events of the year – the Olympic Games opening ceremony, which will start at 8pm local time.
The Berwick Fields Primary School student can hardly wait for her eight closest friends to come around for a sleep-over tomorrow night.
But the connection with the number eight doesn’t stop there.
Sophie’s mother Tina is one of eight children.
The young dancer has been keeping a close eye on the Olympics, both in and out of class, knowing the special day will be celebrated by many millions of people across the world.
Tina and father Glenn, along with older brothers Benn and Dylan, have planned a few surprises for the party.
And family pooch Jack will also be involved with the Friday night fun.
“She is very excited. She can’t wait,” Mrs Morris said.
“Sophie’s class is really focused on the Olympics this term and she understands the good luck associated with the number eight in Chinese.
“Sophie wants to watch the ceremony so we will do that as well as a birthday cake and all the other fun stuff.”
Top of Sophie’s present list is a Nintendo DS.
“I am having eight friends over for a sleep in the back room. We are having a birthday cake too,” Sophie said.
After all the frivolity of Friday night, Sophie will have a pool party at Dandenong Oasis on Sunday.
