Residents keep vandals at bay

RESIDENTS down a Narre Warren street have been keeping a close eye on their property since vandalism started two weeks ago.
Vandals wreaked havoc in Madison Avenue in Narre Warren with cars and an ornamental statue among the items damaged.
Several parked cars were spray painted with various tags last week while a concrete statue, which belonged to Jenny Holland’s family for 30 years, was stolen the week before.
Ms Holland said the aboriginal ornament held a large amount of sentimental value to her family.
The three-foot statue, affectionately dubbed Neville, proudly sat on the family porch before he was stolen sometime during the early hours of Saturday 23 August.
“Not only is my statue missing, but since then there has been some vandalism around my street,” Ms Holland said.
“My son’s car was tagged along with three other cars that I have seen,” she said.
Ms Holland said her family had searched the local area in the hope they would find Neville abandoned somewhere.
“Neville is very sentimental. He was at my parent’s house for 15 years and when my father passed away in 1993, we took him in.
“He is damn heavy and it would have needed two people (to lift him).”
Anyone who has any information about the incidents is asked to contact Narre Warren Police on 9705 3111.
