More than 200 young performers took to the stage to showcase their performing arts talents in the ninth annual Schools on Stage event at Bunjil Place.
Backed by a live orchestra and with the support of loved Australian entertainer Tim Campbell, on Thursday 5 September the future stars performed everything from classic show tunes to family favourites, past pop hits and even their own original songs.
As well as celebrating performing arts talent amongst Casey’s young people, Schools on Stage encourages students to take part in extra-curricular activities to strengthen their connection to the school community, make new friends and build important skills.
First place on the night in the Premier Division went to Casey Grammar School, which beat eight other schools with students’ rendition of Matilda.
The runner up in this division was Maranatha Christian School with Singing in the Rain.
Hillcrest Christian College took out the Best Song Award for ‘NYC’ from Annie, and the Best Individual Performer Award went to Tyeesa Abraham from Kambrya College.
Alkira Secondary College won the Best Team Work Award and Kambrya College received the Music Theatre International Australasia Award for Audience Choice.
